FAQs about the site
What is this site?
This is the official site for some of David Delaney Mayer’s films and writing. Our team is an indie documentary production company based in Durham, NC.
How can I support the projects?
You can support projects by subscribing to our team’s Patreon. Alternatively, for ongoing projects, we have the option to make a tax-deductible donation through our fiscal sponsors. If you’re interest in doing this, you can reach out to David directly- david(at)ddmfilms.com.
Where does the money go?
You may be shocked to know: arthouse documentaries never make any money. Not real money. So all of the subscriptions here go towards production of the films, which means it goes to a community of filmmakers that take part in production: to sound mixers, color mixers, camera operators, editors, composers and beyond.
Where can I see the films?
Some of our films are available on this site and on our YouTube channel! Just navigate to the watch page. Other films are distributed on PBS. If you enjoy the work, we ask that you consider subscribing to our Patreon. There are also opportunities to attend free screenings from time to time around Durham, NC!
Why should I subscribe to the Patreon?
To support a small team of independent filmmakers! And to watch some cool movies you can't really see anywhere else. Also, to get your name in the credits!
Who is David Delaney Mayer?
Just a guy who loves truly independent, arthouse documentaries and who aspires to build communities and systems to support work done by indy filmmakers.
What if I just want to watch one project and not subscribe?
No problem! Simply create the account, then you can cancel anytime! Once you've watched that project, you can just unsubscribe.
What else should I know about David and the team before subscribing?
There's occasionally more up to date information about the ongoing work on Instagram!
